The box that the glass bottle comes in says "Dishwasher safe". I have had the bottles for 3 weeks, washed them on the top rack of the dishwasher once a day, and the markings have started fading, on some bottles almost completely, making it difficult to measure water for formula accurately, and adding an extra step in with having to sterilize something else to use to measure the water before putting it in the bottle.
When I called the company to try to resolve the issue, I spoke to someone who identified herself as a customer service manager. When I told her that the markings had faded she acknowledged that that happens when they are washed in the dishwasher but not if they are boiled. She said this is because they don't use any harsh chemicals and use food grade dye for safety. When I told her that the bottles are only 3 weeks old she said it doesn't always happen that quickly.
That's all very well, but what about the integrity of the product, and the statement on the box and on the website that they are dishwasher safe if they clearly aren't? What about informing the consumer who purchases the product about the possibility of the markings disappearing IF a dishwasher is used?
When I asked her how she could resolve my problem, she said "Unfortunately there is nothing I can do."
For an emerging company in a market that is going to be fiercely competitive, I believe that this is a substandard product, and the company has substandard customer service. I deeply regret spending $100 on 10 bottles from this company.
****UPDATE 01/22/08**** I purchased some glass paints (marker style) from a craft store, and painted on the markings before they disappeared completely on some. Other's I had to try to transfer from other bottles. It has to dry for 24 hrs and then go in the oven at 300 deg for 30 mins, but it has worked like a charm. The markings have stayed put and I have no trouble measuring out the correct amount of water now.
