Unless you're illiterate, I can't think of a single reason for anyone with painful arthritis to not read this book. It's cheap, can be delivered right to your door, and gives the reader a wealth of info about arthritis. Here's some of what it can do for you:
-helps you undertand what is going on in arthritic joints
-covers what supplements have been shown to help fight arthritis. And just running out to the store and buying a bottle of "glucosamine" isn't good enough- the book will help you choose specific brands that the author has meticulously evaluated. Dosages are also covered.
-provides you with a specific 9-step program
-discusses painkillers
-goes through the role of exercise in arthritis and how to choose the best type for you
As you can see, the book covers a lot of information and is very complete- in fact there's even a section on beating the blues that can affect a lot of people with arthritis. So if you have painful arthritis and are looking for a resource to point you in the right direction, I suggest checking out this book. It's cheap, helpful, and based on a lot of sound science. Other research-based books on arthritis I liked include Treat Your Own Knee Arthritis.

This book has an all star cast that compliments her style of writing.
I'm sure it also served another purpose and that was to cleanse the soul of all involved. It may have spoken the words that others could not speak.
There are many lessons to be learned from reading this book every time you read it.
She tells her story similarly to a wistle blower at a large company with the fear of retribution removed.
You get the feeling of having the privilege of listening in on someone's confession.

Fallen On My Knees: A Story of Three Lives Review

Fallen On My Knees: A Story of Three Lives

Is it a journal? Memoirs? Confession? Expose?
Let me simply call it a reflective reportage of a harrowing journey by
a pre-cursed and highly dysfunctional Alice through a merciless, urban,
Wonderland, in the quest of survival and ultimate redemption.
While Paula Bartello recalls her experiences and traumas in vivid
detail and unmasked candour, her journalistic rather than prosaic tone
remaining as restraint as that of a tour guide's, she valiantly resists
slipping into judgement, indulgence, pandering, or solicitation of
pity. Indeed, one gets the impression that Ms Bartello is not even
telling her own story, but someone else's.
It is a remarkable feat that Ms. Bartello manages to relive the pains
of a fractured home, abuse, rape, drugs, dysfunctional relationships,
promiscuity, and ultimately the post-birth death of a twin daughter
during the September 11th terrorist assault just a few blocks away,
without even hinting at self-sorrow or pathos. While the reader feels
goose bumps and fights off tears, Bartello valiantly stays the course
with dead-pan rhetoric and surgical demeanour.
FALLEN ON MY KNEES is an exceptionally well written, meticulously
measured, self-portrait in motion of a remarkable woman whose
relentlessly noble spirit and defiance lead her not only to ultimate
survival, but triumph.
When I closed Paula Bartello's book, I felt quite small.

This book is a special reminder of the bond shared between a child and Grandparent. It would make an excellent gift for a new Grandfather. Reading this story to a child would promote sharing of your own family stories and values. The author, Gina, and illustrator, Sheryl, did an excellent job with this book and I highly recommend it!

Coming this summer, this thoroughly up-to-date and practical reference book discusses all aspects of the knee.It is a mustfor sports therapists, physiotherapists, and any health professional involved in the assessment and management of knee injuries. Over the last 10 years the knee joint has been, perhaps, the most widely researched and published joint in the literature. The body of knowledge on the knee has been expanded from the standpoint of laboratory, clinical and preventive research. This book aims to organize a format from which clinicians can heighten their awareness and appreciation of the knee joint. It lays out a logical order to deal with dysfunction of knee disorders, so the clinician understands the anatomic structure and biomechanical principles of normal function. Once evaluation is completed a holistic plan of care can be designed and implemented. The latter part of the book provides clinicians with comprehensive protocol guidelines.

Voices from Wounded Knee, 1973. In the Words of the Participants Review

Voices from Wounded Knee, 1973. In the Words of the Participants
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was fortunate to be at Wounded Knee in 1973 and onward through the trials of Dennis Banks and Russell Means in Minneapolis.
This book is the truth of what happened and the wonders (spirits and spiritual events) that occompanied the liberation of Wounded Knee. The stories told in this book capture the event more than any book I have read relating to an event like this. I had the fortune to work with all of these people and was inside Wounded Knee during the liberation. My picture is located on page 73 (I am on the left sweeping the clinic).
Gladys Bissonette, Ellen Moves Camp, Lou Bean, and many other women were the strength many times that helped us all to go forward. Many a time we dealt with death (Pedro Bissonnette) in very dangerous situations but their strength, dedication, and love never stopped.
Sarah Thunder Hawk and a medicine man by the name of Hard Heart were instrumental in helping me undrstand why I must stay and help even though egos within the Wounded Knee Legal Defense/ Offense Committee were more interested in themselves that the struggle at hand.
This struggle and the people I worked with changed my life forever and since that time I have continued working to ensure that all people are recognized and that the idea that we all are inter-connected is known.
Please read this book and see the strength, the compassion, the love, the idea that people who had nothing could for a brief time create a situation in which thier lifes were exposed to the world, as well as why things needed to be changed.
Thank you.

Life is a continuous cycle of happiness, solitude, fear, melancholy and, perhaps, tragedy. Sometimes you are up, feeling as if you're the happiest person alive. At other times, you are neutral, feeling the days that pass by and looking forward to the adventures of tomorrow. Then there are times when you are faced with difficulties, difficulties that try to bring you down to your knees. Nonetheless, through it all, you will be able to take hold of a valuable lesson or two.

In True Experiences, Raymond A. Francis recollects his experiences with his family, his life, and his love.

True Experiences illustrates Francis's struggle against his family's indifference and antagonism, the crucial fight between him and his former wife, Carol, and the enlightenment that he had through the ordeal.

Bended Knees Review

Bended Knees
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This anthology consists of circumstantial prayer beyond the requirement that "men should always pray" as there are things beyond the status quo or routine for which divine guidance should be sought.
I found two of the seven stories to be of exceptional quality, Rickey Teems II's "Soldier Surrendered" and Keshia Dawn's "Baby Boy," for the strength of development of plot and unequaled perspective.
"Baby Boy" is told from the perspective of a child trying to meander, adapt and negotiate his reality with some of the fallacies of error, immaturity and dependency of a child learning his environment, yet growing in the awareness of self. The author did an excellent job of integrating mystery with empathy and elicits supplication from the reader to bend their knees for a person such as Baby Boy.
"Soldier Surrendered" brings home the story of war undeclared at home being a greater foe than the military wars of our times and examines greater love has no man than this that he lays down his life for his friend. Although the storyline involves familial love, we are often called to war to intervene in the courses chosen by others at the possible ultimate cost to ourselves. This author exhorts the issue of caring and the degrees of it. His ending is surreal.
So much better are the two of these than the other five in the anthology that they made the remainder seem contrived fantasy.
Shelia Lipsey's "Against the Grain" and Tifany Jones' "A House Divided" included serious issues - interracial dating and adapting to the loss of parents. However, neither delivered on the strength of their titles in development of characters nor the tone of their sundry events.
Donna Deloney's "Joy's Gift" addresses the issue of organ donation, which is an under represented perspective in communities of color and therefore interesting, but the storyline falls below the concept of bended knees as a theme.
Kia Stokes' "Mister, Are You My Daddy" and Brian Smith's "Forgiveness" are attempts to paint the positive and bright male perspective on parenting. Although the voice of black authors need to be strengthened here and encouraged, the focus of the stories seem lackluster and end up gender bashing to drive home a point. Both feature males who want to be fathers at the hands of dishonorable women (a cheating wife and a lying one).
I enjoyed the theme and wished that the overall content of this anthology would have been stronger. There were a few editing issues also. The strength of two of seven stories makes "Bended Knees" an okay read but not one I would readily recommend.

This is my favorite of the series. It's an inspiration to all who have served their God's, their Countries and their Families. These writing's are far reaching no just to those or who serve their God's, their countries or their families. This book reaches out to the soul of humankind. These words describe who we are and our very purpose as we see it. The author of this really outdid herself on this one! Kudos to you Sandra Yearman!
