I used to love this product for my lower back. But it has been revamped to a much lower quality standard. The velcro is now a very narrow strip that does not work. They also did away with two sizes: small/medium and large/extra-large. Now they have combined them into one size. I am a woman, size 6; the box indicates it fits sizes women sizes 4-20. This product was WAAAY to big, and kept falling down even in the beginning when the velcro was connected. I don't know if it was because the wrap was not fitted properly or because they use less heat-producing ingredients, but I barely felt any heat, even when I tied the two long ends together tightly to keep it on my body (the ends hung down like a jacket tied around the waist--ridiculous!).
We also tried Thermacare's newer neck wraps too. My son woke up with a bad stiff neck, so I purchased this product. He wore it for several hours, and upon removal we noticed a horrible red rash on his neck along where the adhesive from the product touched his neck. This rash lasted a week.
I contacted Thermacare and asked what is the chemical in the adhesive that caused such a rash. After a very long wait on hold, the representative got on the phone and told me she isn't allowed to disclose the chemicals used in the adhesive, because that information is "propriety to the company." Well, if a company won't disclose the chemicals coming in contact with the customer's skin on the product, that is VERY SCARY!!! The FDA ought to regulate this industry a little tighter, if they do at all. By the way, my son felt that this product was not comfortable nor helpful. And I have never seen a rash on him prior to this experience. He has no allergies.
I'd recommend checking into alternative heat wrap items or buying up the original products-if you can find any left on the shelves!
