First, these inserts are very bulky. I would expect for how bulky they are they would be more absorbant, but they are not. I have tried the Fuzzibunz hemp inserts and they are much thinner and absorb much better than these.
Next, they are made of synthetic material, which off-gasses. Of course not as bad as disposables, but my goal in cloth diapering is to eliminate off-gassing exposure, as well as conserve petroleum resources. By cloth diapers using "Stay-dry fleece" and polyester, they are using petroleum resources. It annoys me that all-in-one's and pocket diapers that do not contain fleece(polyester) are so hard to find. I have settled on the Happy Heinys organic one size pocket diaper, which has a hemp/cotton liner that does not cause diaper rash because hemp is naturally antibacterial.
These inserts also catch on EVERYTHING. Lint, strings, dry skin, other fabrics, everything sticks to these. You can not even hold them without them snagging on your hands.
Like I said above, I now use the hemp/cotton inserts by Fuzzibunz and I really like them. I only need a size medium for my 1 year old, and that will hold her for a few hours while we are out and about, even if she pees twice. The size larges are very large, and one will hold her overnight with the diaper I mentioned above. It has an absorbant liner also, so if you are using a fleece-lined pocket diaper I would use a medium and a large for overnight.
