While many braces have only two Velcro bands to hold their braces in place, this has three, which allows you to get the right tightness above, below, and around the knee. On other braces, the Velcro soon gives out, allowing the brace to pop off during use. To prevent this, the Nexcare brace has two extra outer bands that circle the top and bottom of the brace, pass through loops, and double back to be secured with Velcro. In addition to preventing the brace from ever coming loose, they provide even more flexibility in getting the degree of tightness you want. With hinged, metal supports on both sides of the knee, you get the maximum in lateral support. I had 40% of the meniscus removed from my knee, and I'm still able to play competitive, full-court basketball three times a week with this knee brace. If you want support that won't give out during hard use, don't waste your money on anything less. This is a great value. Other braces just can't compete.
